Hi Everyone,
Nice to meet you all. Thanks for following my story. I think I'm George. I say that because I'm not sure since I was found as a stray roaming the streets in NY. I was brought to the SPCA and I've been there for a few weeks now. The shelter staff told me they reached out to the rescue people, because I wasn't getting any interest at the shelter. So, these 2 nice girls came and picked me up yesterday and they kept saying "Georgie" and "George" and making all these kissy faces at me, and petting me and stuff, so I think I'm George. And if I'm not, then I'll just pretend to be him, because I sure do like the attention!
I really don't know much about myself, but I know this is the start to my new life. I am an older boy, maybe 10-12 years old and I'm very skinny. The shelter stressed me out a little bit, and as much as I love food, I wasn't eating very much. Other than that, I'm pretty healthy for an older guy, but I'm going to the vet today to get a check-up.
The girls brought me to one of their homes, and they said that this is where I will be living for now. It's called a foster home, that's the place you stay before your forever home. At your foster home, they teach you how to be a good boy by giving you treats and you learn how to live in the house (if you don't know how to already).
I have 2 foster GSP brothers, and they look just like me...wait until you see the pictures! My foster Aunt said "it's a trifecta of GSPs" whatever that means. I was very nice to my new foster brothers, although I started out as a bad boy and kept trying to mount them. A lot. And they both snapped at me. But, I think we got that out of the way and we're all good now.
I will go right in my crate for treats and I bark for a little while, but then I settle down and enjoy a nice kong toy or bone. I can tell you that I am a "chewer" and I love to chew soft things, so you have to keep an eye on me. I pull pretty hard on the leash, but as soon as you put one of those prong collars on me, I walk like a perfect gentleman. I spent the whole night sleeping in my crate and didn't have any accidents. My foster Mom even had to come and wake me up to go out this morning. My foster parents learned this morning that I know how to give "paw", "come" and "sit".
I'll have to keep everyone posted on the details as I progress, but since I haven't even been out of the shelter for 24 hours, I'm still a little unsure of everything. But I can tell I'm going to like it here.
I'll check back in a few days.
